I provide developmental editing for novels and short story collections (sorry, no memoirs). If you have a completed draft of your fiction manuscript, contact me through this website to see if we might be a good fit.

I also provide coaching for novels and short story collections through my NOVEL SESSIONS offered through the Flatiron Writers Room. Here's a description of how that works, including a short video I made in 2023:

Make a four-month commitment to your novel, with individual instruction from award-winning novelist Heather Newton. Before registering for this class, contact us at flatironwritersroom@gmail.com to select your start date. The first month, you’ll have an hour-long interview (choose between in-person and Zoom) in which Heather will ask you interview questions designed to get you thinking about all aspects of your novel. You’ll then have hard deadlines to turn in up to 20 pages for written feedback, with your beginning pages due Month 1, a climax chapter due Month 2, and your ending pages due Month 3 (no excuses). Your coaching will end with a half-hour session (on Zoom) to help you create a roadmap to finish your novel. This class will be most helpful to writers who have not yet completed a first draft.
